Following that we opened presents. I made Jacob a wood sign that says, "You are my favorite everything". It is something that we have started saying to each other, I am pretty sure it started out by Jacob telling me, "You are my favorite", and I would ask, "Favorite what?", his response, "Favorite everything". He loved it of course, I am going to have to change what I give Jacob though or everything he owns and everything in our house is going to be wood. I think every present he has ever received from me has been something out of wood.....
Jacob surprised me with a book of pictures of our first year of marriage. It was beautiful. Jacob told me that he realized how happy he was that I took so many pictures as he was making this book. It was incredible to see how much we had done, so many adventures in just one year. He did an amazing job.
We had a Kendall family Valentines party to stop by and had a great time as always. The crazy thing was how warm it was! It is spring time! Our marriage day and pictures would have been a lot different if the weather would have been like this last year. Baby Evelyn was at the party (and Matt and Sami, we like them too) and everyone else. We had pizza for dinner and Fondue for dessert! YUM! The Kendalls sure know how to do dessert. Jacob got to be involved in his first Valentines bingo! It was fun to be able to spend some time with family and of course get my grandmas (and grandpa made sure to tell me that he helped to decorate this year) famous Valentines cookies which are incredible. I also don't always mind the drive to Bountiful. It gives Jacob and I bonding and talking time.
We ended the festivities Scottish style! Alex, Jacob and I attended the Burns Supper at BYU. A silent auction of Scottish things, a fully Scottish dinner and entertainment. The food included haggis of course, which if you didn't know, you have to stand as it comes in marching with a bagpipe player and they read a poem called, An Ode to Haggis. There were poetry readings, toasts and of course an incredible band that serenaded us with the majestic bagpipes and other instruments. We had a great time and it was fun to be able to dress up and get into the spirit and culture of things.
It was an incredible day. I am so grateful for my sweet husband and feel so blessed to have him as well as all of the opportunities we have. Can't wait to see what our next year hold together!
