A Bunch of Sickos

Married life is even better than I had expected! I love being able to be with Jacob all of the time and to be able to come home to him.   The past week, we have had our first bout of sickness together but it has simply reminded me how lucky and blessed I am that I have a man like Jacob to love and who loves me back.

My first day of being sick Jacob suggested take out from Zuppas so I didn't have to cook, so sweet.  He then tucked me in a blanket to watch Sabrina the Teenage witch while he went to the grocery store. He came home with all the food we needed plus an extra large box of Lucky Charms, my favorite Tillamook S'mores ice cream, and Nyquil.   What a sweetheart!  He took care of me , getting me to bed early, watching my favorite shows with me, cooking me food and just holding me.  Who could ask for more right?
Well sadly, I did not repay him well because then he got sick :( we spent a few days being sick together doing nothing and sleeping, and now it is just him being sick, the poor guy.  So this is what we did:
  • Ate our favorite treats: Ice Cream and Oreos
  • Watched our favorite shows:  Community, Sabrina, Once Upon a Time
  • Had lots of pillow talk: High School, dating, mission, Our Story (it's the best)
  • Made a Craft for FHE
  • Drank our favorite tea
  • Had yucky medicine that Jacob can barely stand
  • Slept a lot

But the best part about it is that we are together, still having fun trying to make the best of it.  Life is an adventure, we just gotta live it and enjoy the moment (Jacob is teaching me this).

This project started because we needed a border for our finger painting poster we did on our first date.  BUT it got so cool that we just continued with the whole thing and it ended up looking pretty epic.  We made it so that it can either be a border for our poster or we can simply have the black and white up there.  Jacob and I love doing crafts together and creating together.  We obviously aren't artists, but that isn't what is important.  We get to spend time together, talk, listen to music and see how each other's brains work as  we cut, paste, and create in our own unique ways to make something together.  Jacob made the analogy that it is like our relationship, we are different, we have different ways of thinking and doing things but that is what makes it beautiful and that is what makes it work.  We get to add our own uniqueness to each others to create our lives together.

A Day As Parents

This weekend, Jacob and I got to babysit the Huish kids and pretend to be parents for a day. We had a great time with Emma, Caden, Zach and Avery. We watched Now You See Me and made air-pop popcorn, read bedtime stories, made Russian Pancakes in the morning, went to Jiu Jitsu with Zach, watched silly TV shows, played funny games like "Crappy Birthday where it is someone's "birthday" and you give them the worst "present you can" as well as Ultimate Spoons where you hide the spoons and once someone wins the card game you race to find the spoons! It was pretty epic. We also went to see Frozen, where Avery just couldn't help but sing along, it was so cute!  We played Ghost in the Graveyard outside which brought back great memories of night games, we ordered pizza and played charades while eating cookie dough.  They are such cute kids and we had such a great time, I love them so much!

Stories and FHE

On the way to Salt Lake for a wedding Jacob asked me to tell him a fantastical story. I began with, "Once upon a time there was a princess named Heather..."  He immediately interrupted me and said, "I already know how that one ends....she meets a prince named Jacob and they lived Happily Ever After."  Well he was right about that one...so I had to come up with a story about a dragon named Rador and a lizard named Jim! On the way home Jacob told a story about Dumor, Sally, and Fred. The next day for FHE we colored our stories.  I love that we can be crazy and silly together.

Date Night In Our Tent

February 7th 2014

This was the best day of my life. I married my best friend and the love of my life, Jacob Alonzo Stewart.  It was a perfect day.   The sealing was incredible, the moment I said yes I felt the Spirit go from the top of my head to the tip of my toes knowing that this was the best decision I had ever made and the most important moment in my life. I am grateful to everyone that helped and made this day beautiful.  Jacob is more than I had ever hoped for and dreamed of, he loves me unconditionally and this day was the perfect way to start our Happily Ever After.

U of U Gymnastics Meets

I love U of U Gymnastics meets!  Jacob not only comes with me, but he also found a great less crowded and awful place to park AND I think he enjoys them!  I love going to the meets, it brings back so many memories of my time in gymnastics (especially since my former teammate Hailee Hansen is on the team) as well as the other times I went to the meets with my team or my mom.   We also got Dip n Dots which is a good tradition to keep going, Jacob wasn't thrilled with them I don't think, they stick to your tongue.

Our First Home

We have our own home! I love being here with Jacob and I am so happy to be able to come home to him every day, we have started our own little family and it will just get bigger and stronger from here.  We are so blessed and I am so grateful for all that I have.

Reception in Oregon

Jacob's mom made a beautiful arch out of bamboo and he had so many wonderful people that came to help. It was so great to meet so many people that know and love Jacob.
My new sister Lizzie did my hair, she is so talented and I am so glad she is now my sister!

These are Jacob's best friends. It was so great to meet them! They are awesome, I loved to be able to meet these guys who played such a big part in Jacob's life who he loves so much.

Waterfalls in Oregon

Had a great drive to Oregon for the second reception and we decided to stop to see the incredibly gorgeous waterfalls on the way. We got a little more wet than expected when we got on the bridge in front of it! It was like getting buckets of water thrown on us! It was crazy! But very beautiful

Wedding Set Up

We had so many great helpers that sacrificed to come and help us set up for the reception! My whole family, Jacobs family, Brooke and Rosie and their kids, Michelle and her kids, grandmas and grandpa, Amy and probably more people that I can't remember. It was fun to be with everyone and I think it turned out absolutely beautiful! Thanks everyone!

Back To Where It All Began

After a date to a BYU gymnastics meet Jacob and I went on a walk, walks, by the way played a big part in me falling in love with him.  We spent many evenings walking and talking and just enjoying the outdoors and each other's company.  We went back to the bench where our love began in the Talmage building on the second floor in front of our Russian Culture and History Class.  This is where we became best friends, both showing up an hour early to class to be with the other and to "study"

Wedding Prep

Wedding invites!  It was a whole evening of labeling, stamping and stuffing envelopes.  Sami was nice enough to take the evening with me and sacrifice her hands (we both got a few cuts by the end) to help invite everyone to the wedding. Mom, Dad, and Jacob of course helped too but they also had work and homework to do.    We started out tying bows on every single one, but that got old so only about 60 got to have one with a bow, so congratulations if you were one of the lucky few! ;)  We watched, I think a movie about weddings...can't remember and then we found out that Netflix had Penelope - Woot woot!!  Sami is the greatest!

2014

It is a new year!  Yes, I am a little behind because it is now March and I am writing about the beginning of the year, but that's ok! I want to continue this blog thing that I have been doing because I want to record about my life.  Last year I started this blog because of my need to see the DAILY good in my life but slowly the blog faded to just once a week, then just when important/or fun things happened and then of course I got way behind.  This year I would like to continue the blog to show my gratitude to my new husband Jacob, to my family and friends, and especially to my Heavenly Father for the love that I receive, for the opportunities that I have, and just simply for the fun and little joys of life!

Christmas with the Stewarts

We (Alex, Jacob and I) drove to Oregon (15 hours) so we could spend Christmas with my soon to be in laws!  It was a long drive, but the good thing was that most of the drive is beautiful.  There were waterfalls and trains to see and get up our excitement!  Not to mention we listened to Harry Potter on tape.

Oregon is soooo GREEN!  Moss hangs off of the moss that is clinging to the already green trees that also have other plants growing from them.

Puppies!
There were two puppies there, one of theirs and one that there was babysitting one other.  Lots of puppies!

Silver Creek Falls!  Jacob has raged on and on about this place and I have found that it was for good reason.  We went with Jacob's good friend Brandon and had a great time.  It was incredibly gorgeous and we didn't even get to see half of the waterfalls!

It is so beautiful!!!!

The Stewarts are big game people.  We spent a lot of the time playing board games, cooperative games, video games, card games, all sorts of games.  This got me thinking that what is cool about joining a new family is that there are a lot of new things to start doing that I never would have done had I not been added to the family.  It is good to have your horizon's broadened and new traditions added. It is going to be a great adventure.
